This past week at the NAA Conference my friend, Ron Shelton, was inducted into the NAA Hall of Fame. I have had the privilege and honor of working with and serving alongside Ron for almost twenty years in the Dallas, Tarrant County, Texas and National Apartment Associations. Ron is the paramount professional and one of the best examples I know of the "servant leader" required to be a good steward of the associations who have benefited from his volunteerism. Never one to shy away from a difficult task or sometimes unfavorable position, Ron always put the members and organizations long term benefits in front of the interests of any others. A great example of his willingness to serve all of us was the year he was tasked with the Presidency of AAGD (Dallas) and TAA (Texas) at the same time. Due to a change in the TAA executive committee, Ron's term was accelerated by a year and he never batted an eye as he lead both associations with the passion and enthusiasm that Ron does all things. He moved from his leadership positions at the State and Local level and took up the task of getting the NAA Education Institute up and running until finally ascending to the role of NAA Chairman. Ron has joined a very short list of industry veterans who have received the honor of being named to the NAA Hall of Fame, and as he stated in his reception on Thursday evening "it was a labor love."
Thank You Ron - We all appreciate what you have and will continue to do for this association.
